The most difficult architectural task regarding residential architecture is creating a home; a group of spaces that are new and offer a response to the Client's site, program, context, budget, design theme and neighborhood. A home is quite different from a ‘house.’ A home responds to deeper inhabitant feelings and qualities regardless of size and budget. The Krug residence responds to these deeper qualities of ‘home’ in a way that is informally comfortable and elegant at the same time. The architecture strives to make a connection to the historical character of the region through materials and form.
